Liverpool, New York.
Onondaga Lake.
Syracuse, New York being one of the major immigration ports, has one of the largest refugee populations in the United States. This has created a trend of poverty and low living quality amongst Syracuse locals and immigrants.
This project works to create a temporary housing complex in Liverpool, New York, just a 15 minute drive from Syracuse. Though a short distance from Syracuse, Liverpool has a significantly higher living standard. This housing complex seeks to provide comfortable housing for those in need, while continually connecting them to the immigrant resources in Syracuse like RISE.
The project begins to question the current housing solutions we provide to immigrants. Is there a way we can better acclimate these people? What type of housing is suitable for different immigrant backgrounds and how can we help adjust to that? Multiple housing iterations and forms were generated to dabble into questioning different units serving different types of households.
